Fancy having a go at the 2012 annual Bellingham Blast?

If you’re up for the challenge, the Blast will be staged over two days at the back end of September.

Saturday 22nd September a 61mile (100km) circuit of mixed surface through transfixing terrain for serious road bikers in the heart of Kielder Forest Park and Northumberland National Park. On Sunday 23rd September there will be a more family-friendly route from Bellingham along quiet country roads to Dally castle, suitable for families with children of all ages and abilities.

Saturdays Sportive route is unchanged to last years, however it is in an anti clockwise direction!  If you did it last year, you will appreciate getting the killer hills out of the way at the start of the event.  The route starts at Bellingham, heads over the hills towards the Reivers in Tarset, over to Falstone and from there follows the Lakeside Way to Kielder Castle, back down the valley, through the forest and finally drops down the Dunterley Fell,  Then its through the forest over to Calvert Trust then its around Kielder Water stopping off at Kielder Castle, then back down to Falstone. From here the route heads over the hills to Reivers of Tarset and with some final climbing the route then picks up the road back to Bellingham.

Sundays more family-friendly route begins anytime between 9am – 12pm. It is a stunning route and we hope to entice you back to try out more interesting and quiet routes around the Bellingham area, which is only 20 mins away from the vast cycle trail network at Kielder Water & Forest Park, which boasts one of the longest multi purpose leisure routes in the UK (Lakeside Way) and also the highest mountain bike trail in England-Deadwater MTB trail (1900ft at the summit). The fees are £5 for a family of four or £2 per person.
