A free bike ride is aimed at women only…sorry lads!! and part of the Newcastle Bicycle Festival 2012
This 20 mile ride will leave Washington village heading north to Heworth and then into the Gateshead town centre alongside the felling by pass. We will drop down to the Quayside passing the Baltic..no doubt sneaking over to the Hub for a coffee and a cake .. then join Route 14 cycle path heading east to Bill Quay. We will head back to Washington along the route 11 bike track via Wardley, Leam Lane and Springwell.
It’s a good idea to bring some water (what ever the weather!!) and you may also want to bring a snack. Dress appropriately for the weather. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don’t have one please do not to worry you can still take part.
Age Restrictions – Adults 16+ only and you need to be female!
Estimated Duration – 3 hours 0 mins (2 hours cycling) Average Speed – Brisk (9-10 mph)

More About the Festival:
Newcastle Bicycle Festival runs over 2 weekends from 21 – 29 September and brings together communities and cyclists, old and new to celebrate the world of cycling in the North East.
There is a weekend of events from 21 – 23 September around Tyneside from film screenings and skill sharing and general fun events / meet-ups.
The following weekend on (Saturday 29th) there is a Cycling Family Fun day in Exhibition Park the Cycle Hub and Saddle Skedaddle plan to be there that showcases all things to do with cycling in Newcastle, Gateshead and throughout Tyne and Wear.
