Shields Road – Legends & Landmarks

Illustrated talk & guided walk events

Discover the history and character of Shields Road, once dubbed the `Spirit of Byker’ and still a popular shopping centre with much architectural character.

Join Mike Greatbatch for an illustrated talk and associated walking tour, two separate events repeated each month during February to April.  Note that there are three separate venues for the talk events, and that the days and times vary slightly.

 

Thursday 14th February.

Illustrated Talk on the History & Heritage of Shields Road.

Venue: East End Pool & Library, Shields Road.

Time: 2.00 to 4.00pm

 

Saturday 16th February.

Shields Road Walking Tour

The walk will start outside the East End Pool at 10.30am and finish at St Silas Church at 12.30pm.

 

Friday 22nd March.

Illustrated Talk on the History & Heritage of Shields Road.

Venue: Room 7, 6th Floor, City Library.

Time: 2.00 to 4.00pm

 

Saturday 23rd March.

Shields Road Walking Tour

The walk will start outside St Silas Church at 10.30am and finish at the East End Pool at 12.30pm.

 

Friday 12th April.

Illustrated Talk on the History & Heritage of Shields Road.

Venue: Blackfriars Centre, New Bridge Street.

Time: 1.00 to 3.00pm

 

Saturday 13th April.

Shields Road Walking Tour

The walk will start outside St Silas Church at 10.30am and finish at the East End Pool at 12.30pm.

 

Places are limited, so booking essential for all events.
