Shields Road – Landmarks & Legends

Friday 23rd November.  

An illustrated talk on the history and character of Shields Road, once dubbed the `Spirit of Byker’ and still a popular shopping centre with much architectural character.

Room 4 on level 3, City Library, 2.00 to 4.00pm

Fee: £3.00

 

Shields Road Walking Tour

Saturday 24th November.

Join Mike Greatbatch for a walking tour of Shields Road, where department stores and family businesses once rubbed shoulders with cinemas and a famous theatre.  The walk will start outside St Silas Church at 11.00 and finish at the East End Library & Pool at 1.00.  This event is part of the Shields Road Winter Festival and Food Fair.

Fee: £3.00

 

Fee if you book a place for both events is £5.00.
